Access to the Library is only granted to CCT students.  Student ID cards must be presented upon request.

All registered students have access to the library and services supplied for the duration of the academic term.

Student cards are non-transferable, and students are responsible for all material borrowed on their ID cards.  It is a serious breach of college regulations to allow someone else to use your card and you may incur a suspension from all College services.

The library is a quiet space. Mobile phones and other digital equipment must be switched off in the main library space and in the study rooms.

Students must abide by the library regulations and always treat library staff and their fellow users with respect and courtesy.

  • Students have unlimited access to the CCT Online Library with extensive online book and journal resources and can borrow up to 4 print books simultaneously.
  • The standard loan period for print books is 1 week.
  • Students can reserve a book if all the available copies are on loan. Reserved books will be held for 3 open days. If uncollected, books will be reallocated or reshelved.
  • Students must not remove any items which have not been issued at the Library Services Desk.
  • All books are renewable up to 10 times, unless reserved by another reader.
  • Renewals can be requested at the library desk or by emailing library@cct.ie.
  • Recalled items must be returned to the library by the current due date.
  • Library items must be treated with respect. Damaging or stealing items is regarded as a serious disciplinary offence.
  • It is the borrower’s responsibility to ensure that library items are returned by the due date.
  • Overdue fines accrue at a rate of 50 cents per day per item. Fines are capped at € 20 per item.
  • Library accounts with fines of €20 and above will be blocked.
  • Borrowers are responsible for the replacement of library materials that have been lost/damaged while in their possession.
  • Fines can be paid at the reference desk.
  • The CCT Library collection is comprised of resources in both print and electronic format. All the library resources are searchable via Ebsco Discovery.
  • To ensure that the collection meets the needs of its users, the librarian evaluates the collection annually to keep it relevant and up to date.
  • Damaged, missing, or worn-out books that are part of a reading list or in demand will be replaced. CCT library will prioritise the purchase of electronic titles on Ebsco to facilitate access to the resources by multiple users. Whenever a title is not available in eBook format, it will be purchased in print.
